abandonment (of a spouse)
Definition
The voluntary departure of one spouse from the marital home without the consent of the other spouse, without justification, and with the intent to terminate the marital relationship. This departure is deemed grounds for divorce when it has continued the length of time required by the local, state or provincial statutes. Synonym: malicious abandonment.
